The Horsing Crisis

I produced this TV piece at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism. I reported, wrote and edited the piece. I was primary camera, as well.

After the Great Recession of 2008, everyone was focused on the housing crisis, but there was another crisis beginning across the country. In 2012, I started hearing about people no longer able to support their animals in Northern California. With droughts exacerbating already exorbitant hay prices and the terrible economic climate, horse owners were finding themselves in a bind, facing very difficult decisions. Others decided they had to take up the slack.
